Resizing
Will sizing ruin the integrity of my ring?
Only if it's not done properly.
What is the best way to get the correct finger size?
To ensure you find the perfect fit for your ring, the most effective approach is to visit us in-store and seek the expertise of a professional jeweler. The correct size of a ring is significantly influenced by its width, and only a seasoned professional can accurately assess the interplay between the dimensions of your finger and the proposed ring width. By consulting with a jeweler, you benefit from a personalized assessment that guarantees a ring that not only fits beautifully but feels comfortable and looks magnificent on your hand.
How do you resize a ring?
Resizing a ring is a delicate process that varies depending on whether the ring is being made larger or smaller.
To enlarge a ring, a jeweler inserts a matching piece of metal at the cut, then welds, sands, and polishes it to make the addition invisible. This process might slightly reduce the ring's width by about 0.10mm and could remove any inside engraving.
To reduce a ring's size, the process involves adjusting its dimensions without adding material. If the ring has gemstones or is made of a specific metal, the jeweler may stretch or compress the band accordingly.
In both cases, the aim is to preserve the ring's beauty and ensure a perfect fit, though each method has its nuances and potential minor alterations to the original design.
Repairs & Maintenance
How often should I have my ring checked?
Maintaining the luster and longevity of your jewelry starts with regular cleaning. Aim for professional cleanings and inspections every six months, complemented by gentle at-home care using a suitable cleaning kit—mindful that not all cleaners are safe for every gemstone. Consistent upkeep prevents dirt accumulation, which can cause wear and potential stone loss, especially in pieces with moving parts or delicate prongs. Adopting a routine of preventive maintenance not only keeps your jewelry looking its best but also safeguards against premature damage, ensuring your treasured pieces endure.
Do repairs have warranties?
At Charles Koll Jewelry Works, we proudly offer a Lifetime Warranty on repairs for pieces purchased from us. However, repairs on items not originally sold by us do not carry this warranty, due to the uncertain quality and integrity of the original work. For jewelry not from our collection, we recommend contacting the original seller or manufacturer for repairs, ensuring your piece receives the most appropriate care.
Will my jewelry by repaired on-site same day?
We take pride in having the ability to provide repairs and maintenance services same day (in most cases) while you browse. You even have the capability of watching our jewelers work their magic live!
